6) SALVADOR BRANCH THE PORT OF SALVADOR IS AN EXCELLENT OPTION FOR VESSELS CALLING ONLY FOR BUNKERS AS BUNKERING OPERATIONS ARE CARRIED OUT AT ANCHORAGE IN THE SAFE, PROTECTED WATERS OF THE BAY OF ALL SAINTS ONE OF THE LARGEST OF THE WORLD. AS THERE ARE NO TOWAGE NOR PILOTAGE EXPENSES ( PILOTAGE IS NOT COMPULSORY ) THE COSTS ARE VERY LOW IF COMPARED TO OTHER PORTS. PUMPING RATES VARY FROM 200 TONS/HOUR TO 300 TONS/HOUR DEPENDING ON WHICH SUPPLY VESSEL IS ASSIGNED. DRAFTS UP TO 20 METERS ARE ACCEPTABLE. VESSELS WHICH OPERATE LOADING/DISCHARGING CARGOES AT SALVADOR PORT MAY RECEIVE BUNKERS AT BERTH ( SUPPLY VESSEL ALONGSIDE ) OR AT ANCHORAGE. IN THESE CASES PILOTAGE AND TOWAGE ARE APPLICABLE. AT ARATU PORT BUNKERING IS NOT ALLOWED SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH CARGO OPERATIONS. AT MADRE DE DEUS BUNKERS ARE SUPPLIED DIRECTLY FROM REFINERY BY SHORE CONNECTION. 7) VITORIA BRANCH BUNKERING AT TUBARAO, PRAIA MOLE, CAPUABA AND VITORIA COMMERCIAL QUAY IS PERFORMED EX BARGE WHILE VSL IS BERTHED CONCURENT WITH CARGO OPERATIONS. ON VERY EXCEPTIONAL CASES, BUNKERS MAY BE ARRANGED AT PONTA UBU AND/OR PORTOCEL, HOWEVER COST PER TON INCREASES SIGNIFICANTLY DUE TO DISTANCE INVOLVED. BUNKERING AT ANCHORAGE CURRENTLY ALLOWED UNDER SPECIAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN OWNER (OR BUNKER BROKER) AND PETROBRAS. NOWADAYS, PETROBRAS HAS BEEN ABLE TO DO BETWEEN 3 AND 4 BUNKERINGS AT ANCHORAGE PER MONTH. THE COSTS RELATED TO THE BUNKERING OPERATION, WHEN DONE AT THE ANCHORAGE, ARE LIMITED TO AGENT’S FEE, FREE PRATIQUE TAXES AND LIGHT DUES (WHICH SO FAR, NOT DEMANDED BY HARBOUR MASTER, BUT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THIS WILL BE CHARGED IN THE FUTURE). AIMING TO PREVENT ANY OIL POLUTION, BRAZILIAN NAVY ONLY AUTHORISES BUNKERING OPERATIONS AT INNER ANCHORAGE OF GUANABARA BAY. AND BUNKERING BARGES ARE ONLY CLASSED TO OPERATE ON SHELTERED WATERS I.E., WITHIN RIO DE JANEIRO PORT LIMITS. ALL GRADES OF BUNKERS ARE AVAILABLE AT RIO DE JANEIRO, OPERATIONS ARE CARRIED OUT ROUND THE CLOCK, SHINC AND PUMPING RATE(S) VARYING 250 - 300 TPH.
