Total hires logistics support for Lapa

Brasco, the offshore logistics arm of Brazilian shipbuilder Wilson Sons, has signed a contract with French supermajor Total to assist operations in the Lapa pre-salt field in the prolific Santos basin.
Brasco will provide logistics support to producing activities in the field, where the Cidade de Caraguatatuba floating production, storage and offloading vessel is installed.
“This contract is another important milestone in our successful relationship with Total, with whom we have been working since 2013, when the contract to provide logistics support to the exploration programme in the Xerelete field started,” said Brasco executive director Gilberto Cardarelli.
Output from Lapa started in December 2016. The field was producing about 39,200 barrels per day of oil and 1.1 million cubic metres per day of natural gas from two wells in January, according to data from market regulator ANP.
Production from Lapa was temporarily interrupted late last year when cracks were identified in the flare tower of the FPSO, which eventually postponed ramp-up activities.
Brasco operates two private offshore terminals in Guanabara Bay, one in Rio de Janeiro and another in Niteroi, totalling eight docking berths.
