Wilson Sons Estaleiros presented revenues of R$ 86 million last year, with a growth of 27% against the comparative of 2017. This result refers to shipbuilding and dry-docking activities performed for third parties and does not include the work done for the Group’s towage and offshore vessel businesses.

Earnings before interests, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) from the shipyards division also grew 46% when compared to the previous year and reached R$ 10 million, due to the increase in vessel construction and dry-docking operations.

“We were able to make significant strides in our financial indicators with the strategy of servicing the maintenance, conversion and repairs market. We are increasingly prepared for the recovery of the sector that still faces challenges in terms of growth. We have the best infrastructure, unrivalled safety practices and privileged location inside the main port complex in Latin America”, outlines Adalberto Souza, Executive Director of Wilson Sons Estaleiros.

In 2018 the shipyards performed 24 dry-docking operations for six clients, compared to 17 in the previous year, registering 675 days of dry-docking activities against the 235 achieved in 2017. Souza further highlights the delivery of three new tugboats, being two for Saam Smit (SST Arara and SST Aranã) and one for Wilson Sons Rebocadores (WS Sirius).

This year the Company will receive 20 vessels for dry-docking operations. The clients are Wilson Sons Rebocadores, Saam and Wilson Sons’ offshore vessels joint venture. The shipyards current orderbook further contemplates the construction of an escort tug for the Wilson Sons Rebocadores fleet.
