The company signs a contract with Canadian Solar, a global leader in the production of photovoltaic modules

The solar energy segment continues with an upward trend at Wilson Sons Logistics Centre, located in Santo André (SP). The company signed a contract with Canadian Solar, a Sino-Canadian company and a global leader in the production of photovoltaic modules. By the end of this year, a total of  38.6 megawatt generating equipment will be handled.

The cargo is intended for Canadian Solar projects and for resale to the distributed generation sector, mainly in the Northeast and Southeast regions. The company is in the process of expanding in the country and assesses that the consumption of solar energy in Brazil has a strong growth potential in the coming years.

“Some circumstances have prepared this path for solar energy to gain more and more space in the country. For example, we have the challenge undertaken by Brazil to anticipate its climate neutrality. In addition, consumers are highly interested in cheaper alternatives due to the current energy crisis”, highlights Pedro Alves, Canadian Solar‘s general director for Latin America.

The handling of cargoes for the solar energy segment at Centro Logístico Santo André recorded an increase of 191% between January and September this year, compared to the same period in 2020. In the nine months of 2021, the Wilson Sons business unit received around 12 thousand tons of solar equipment.

With an area of 119,700 square meters and close to important logistical links, such as the Port of Santos (SP) and the Guarulhos International Airport, the Santo André Logistics Centre offers specific integrated solutions for the segment, involving in-boundtransport, bonded storage, distribution centre and delivery to the end customers throughout the country.

“We are very excited about this contract, due to Canadian representativeness and the prospects for growth in solar energy in Brazil. Over the past five years, Centro Logístico Santo André has specialized in this segment. And, today, we can say that we offer a robust solution, capable of serving all companies in the sector”, highlights Thais Sangean, general manager of Wilson Sons Logistics Centres.
