On February 13, the Peruvian Navy’s tall ship “BAP Union” arrives in Rio de Janeiro to
participate in the “Velas Latinoamerica 2022” regatta, an international event that is part
of the celebrations of the 200 years of Brazil’s independence. Wilson Sons Shipping
Agency will be responsible for coordinating the arrival, berthing and departure of the
ship on February 19.
The Shipping Agency will take care of all matters related to the ship during its stay and
liaise with the parties involved (pilots, tugboats, maritime, port and health authorities,
Federal Police) as well as the supply of fuel and provisions. “For us, it is an honour to be
selected by the Peruvian Navy to serve the “BAP Union” during its stay in Brazil. Our goal
is to be the first choice of customers in the shipping segment and for this we have an
experienced team to meet the most diverse needs of this operation,” says Renan
Queiroz, Regional Manager of Agency Operations at Wilson Sons.
The “BAP Union” is the largest tall ship in Latin America. Owned by the Peruvian Navy,
it has an LOA of 115 metres with 13 metres beam. The vessel joins other tall ships from

Cartagena (Colombia), Fortaleza and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Montevideo (Uruguay), Mar
del Plata (Argentina), Punta Arenas and Valparaíso (Chile), Callao (Peru) and Guayaquil
