One of the first privatized container terminals in Brazil, with a commitment to modernization and investments made by Wilson Sons. Since 1997, more than 275 million dollars have been invested in infrastructure, equipment, training and technology. Today, we are the most automated terminal in the country and we are ready to receive and operate the largest ships that sail in the world.

Inauguration: On March 1, 1997, the first container was lifted on the ship Deike Rickmers, owned by Mitsui OSK. The Terminal started its operations with a single mooring berth.
1998
Start of inland water transport operation: The terminal started to use the waterway to receive stopovers of barges with cargo from the center and north of the state.
1999
Navis Sparcs: The Terminal is the first terminal in Brazil to invest in a state-of-the-art Operations Management System.
1999
Reefer outlets: Terminal invests more than 15 million reais in starting reefer containers.
2000
Second berth: With the addition of 300 meters, the Terminal now has a total extension of 600 meters of wharf and carries out the first simultaneous operation with two ships, the P&O Nedlloyd Houston and the Transroll Argentina.
2000
Teconline: The Teconline portal is launched, where it is possible to view the status of the container, ship schedule, cargo scheduling, OS Web and several other services, giving more autonomy to the customer.

General and special cargo warehouse: In more than 3 million reais invested, the terminal opens its general and special cargo warehouse, with 20,000m²

Record: Tecon Rio Grande celebrates one million TEU moved.
2002
ISPS Code: Terminal implements the code aimed at the safety and protection of ships and port facilities. This code was made by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), belonging to the United Nations (UN) and approved by the Brazilian Government in the form of law.
2003
ISO 9001: Tecon Rio Grande receives recommendation for the first ISO 9001 certification.
2004
Mooring Windows System: First container terminal in Brazil to implement the Mooring Windows System.
2007
Railway branch: Inauguration of a railway line, making Tecon Rio Grande a terminal with access by three modals.
2008
Third berth: With the addition of 250 meters, the Terminal now has a total extension of 850 m of wharf. Also in 2008, Tecon Rio Grande carried out pioneer boarding of containerized soy.
2008
Record: Tecon Rio Grande celebrates 5 million TEU moved.
2009 a 2015
2009
Inauguration of the refrigerated antechamber: In order to guarantee effective conditions for the certification of Brazilian products, the terminal inaugurates its refrigerated antechamber. The inspectors of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply – MAPA will now be able to rely on a modern and adequate structure for inspection or reinspection of products that need to remain under controlled temperature.

Zero Risk: The Zero Risk program is implemented by the terminal, increasing the awareness of the teams and reducing the risk of accidents.
2012
WS+: Wilsons Sons launches the WS+ project, which disseminates the safety culture throughout the company, promoting knowledge about risks and precautions in the work activity.

334m long ships: The terminal begins to receive a regular fleet of 334m long ships, the largest vessels that used to call at a port in the country until then.
2014
OCR portals: More than 6.5 million reais invested allowed the installation of optical recognition portals, making the entry of drivers into the terminal faster and more efficient.

Non-invasive survey / In/out Scanners: in investments made from 2012 to 2015, the terminal started to use scanners for non-invasive inspection of cargo, bringing more safety and transparency to the operations of its customers.

Automatic gate: complete gate automation with biometrics, automatic weighing and ticket printing.

Tecon Santa Clara: Terminal that was formerly used by Braskem, in Triunfo, is now managed by Wilson Sons. The container inland water transport terminal resumes its activities. There are four weekly stopovers guaranteed at Tecon Rio Grande, Tecon Santa Clara stands out in the Rio Grande do Sul market.

Record: Tecon Rio Grande celebrates 10 million TEU moved.
2017
New equipment: with investments of 40 million dollars, the terminal incorporates in its structure 03 STS Post-Panamax cranes for 24 rows, in addition to 08 RTG (Rubber Tyred Gantry).
2017
Navis N4: with the implementation of the most modern software for port management, Navis N4, the terminal increases its productivity.
2018
Certifications: the year is marked by the recommendation of three certifications: ISO 9001:2015, OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO 14001:2015, all from the renowned Bureau Veritas.
2020
20 Years of Teconline and implementation of service via WhatsApp.
2021
ISO 45001:2021: One more certification recommendation was obtained, this one referring to Occupational Health and Safety Management.

Transhipment: the terminal celebrates its largest transhipment operation, with more than 7,000 containers handled on two Hapag Lloyd ships.

25 years of Tecon Rio Grande: In more than two decades, the terminal has established itself as one of the most automated in the country and one of the most competitive container terminals in South America.

We increased the operational capacity of Tecon Santa Clara by 33% through the replacement of barges.
2022
The terminal was considered the most efficient port in the country in terms of administrative approach to the World Bank and IHS Markit's global container performance index.
2023
Tecon Rio Grande was recognized for the 10th time as "Outstanding Export Support Services," receiving the Diamond Distinction at the 51st Export Award in Porto Alegre.
2023
We completed the construction of a solar photovoltaic power plant, installed in the main parking lot of the terminal, featuring 74 photovoltaic modules of 545 Wp and a charging point for electric vehicles.

The inland container terminal located in Triunfo (RS) celebrated 7 years, having transported over 280,000 TEU and set a record for cargo movement.
2024
The terminal was one of the Brazilian ports to receive the first European ship powered by natural gas to dock in Brazil, the CMA CGM Bahia.

The innovative partnership established between Tecon Rio Grande, the South Korean shipping company Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), and the Singaporean feeder operator Bengal Tiger Line (BTL) consolidates the terminal as a hub port.

Located 320 km from Porto Alegre (RS), Tecon Rio Grande is part of the port complex called Superporto do Rio Grande, which, within a radius of 500 nautical miles (from Buenos Aires to Paranaguá), is the central geographic point that offers the greatest depth for ships to operate – and the southernmost seaport in Brazil, located on the west bank of the Rio Grande channel, this being a natural outlet for the entire hydrographic basin of Lagoa dos Patos.
