HSE

Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management is a strategic highlight at Tecon Salvador. All programs in the area are based on the Integrated Policy, Strategic Map and their respective guidelines. The reduction of operational risks and continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental aspects allowed Tecon to achieve the international certifications ISO 14001: 2015 (Environment) and ISO 45001: 2018 (Occupational Health and Safety).

Safety

To promote the safety of workers, visitors and third parties, Tecon Salvador adopts several strategies with the objective of continuously promoting the identification of risks and the necessary preventive measures for a safe operation. Check below some of them:

WS+ Program
WS+ is a management tool where periodic audits are performed by DuPont, a contracted audit firm, in order to assess the practical adherence of internal security procedures, impartially, contributing to the continuous improvement of management.

HSE circuit
With the purpose of rescuing values forgotten by the daily routine, the HSE Circuit is a week focused on the dissemination, orientation and promotion of prevention, regarding to occupational accidents and diseases and environmental awareness.

Environment

Rainwater catchment
To reduce the environmental impact of water consumption, there are rainwater collection points within the Terminal, which, after proper treatment, are used to support the daily demand of the organization's activities. Due to its potability pattern after this treatment, the water is even directed to a drinking area, without risks for human consumption.

Effluent treatment plant
Wastewater generated by machine and equipment washes is transferred to a treatment plant that separates water from oil. After this separation, the effluent is chemically treated and returned to be used again to wash other equipment, thus reducing the consumption of natural resources. This practice earned Tecon Salvador the 1st place in the 2018 Maritime Prize of the Americas, in the category Green Operations in Ports and Terminals.
